Ottawa County is proud to recognize Chris Langholz of the Ottawa County Public Defender's Office for outstanding customer service.
On April 2, 2026, an elderly man came into the lobby of the Administration Building seeking information about the jail and courts. He was concerned about a family member facing court proceedings and needed more detailed guidance. Chris noticed the situation, introduced himself as a member of the Public Defender’s Office, and offered to help. He answered the man’s questions about the arraignment process, the court location, the assigned judge, and what to expect next. Chris responded with compassion and professionalism, helping make a difficult situation easier for a concerned family member. What makes his actions especially meaningful is that Chris was not working that day. Even while off duty, he recognized someone in need and took the time to help.
Exceptional customer service is important to Ottawa County government. Each day, employees interact with residents seeking information, resources, and support. Launched in 2012, Ottawa County’s Customer Service Initiative empowers employees to solve problems and ensure residents feel valued and respected.
