ONE IN FIVE people experiences a mental health condition, yet shame and stigma stop countless individuals from ever seeking help. This month, we're shining a light on Overcoming Stigma: exploring what drives it, how it shows up in everyday life, and what we can do to break it down. When stigma is replaced with understanding, people are more likely to seek care, stay connected, and thrive.

Family Services (FS) provides support to children and adolescents with mental health and/or developmental disabilities up to age 21. Services offered include Infant Mental Health, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Outpatient Therapy, Homebased Therapy, Supports Coordination, Parent and Youth Peer Support, Community Health Worker services, Psychiatry, Intensive Care Coordination with Wraparound, Mobile Crisis Services and Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities services. The FS team is made up of almost 40 dedicated and passionate staff.

The Mental Health Millage has been used to fund 36 agencies/programs since 2016, and through this community investment, thousands of Ottawa County residents have had access to mental health services, crisis support, housing assistance, youth programs, senior services, substance use treatment, and other critical resources close to home. This funding continues to make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors, friends, and families in Ottawa county.

Global Forgiveness Day is July 7th, and this month one of our focus topics is Forgiveness -a powerful yet often overlooked pillar of mental and emotional wellbeing. Practicing forgiveness, whether toward others or ourselves, can reduce stress, ease anxiety, and help build healthier relationships.
