The Ottawa County Road Commission has released its Draft 2027-2031 Strategic Improvement Plan (SIP), outlining nearly $170 million in proposed transportation investments over the next five years.
The SIP serves as the Road Commission's annual five-year blueprint for improving, maintaining, and preserving Ottawa County's transportation infrastructure.
The draft plan includes a balanced approach to infrastructure investment, combining major road improvements with preventative maintenance strategies designed to maximize the life of existing roads and bridges while making the most of available funding.
The Draft SIP calls for the investment in more than 476 miles of road improvements and preservation projects, the construction of 16 roundabouts, the improvement or replacement of 8 bridges, and the replacement of 33 large culverts throughout Ottawa County.
The proposed projects reflect the Road Commission's ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, reliable, and efficient transportation system while planning for future growth and infrastructure needs.
The SIP is critical to the Road Commission's mission to identify priorities, pursue state and federal funding opportunities, coordinate with local communities, and prepare projects well in advance of construction.
Residents, businesses, local officials, and community stakeholders are encouraged to review the Draft SIP and provide feedback. Public comments will help inform future discussions before the plan is finalized.
Comments regarding the Draft 2027-2031 Strategic Improvement Plan may be submitted in writing through August 28, 2026.
