HOLLAND, MI — The Ottawa County Community Action Agency (OCCAA) invites community members to participate in its annual Walk for Warmth on Friday, February 20, 5:30pm at EV Construction, 86 E. 6th Street in Holland
The event raises critical funds and awareness for OCCAA’s Utility Assistance Program, which helps local families avoid utility shut-offs during times of financial hardship.
Walk for Warmth is a long-standing community tradition and part of a nationwide initiative supported by Community Action Agencies. Funds raised through the event provide emergency assistance for gas, electric, water, propane, and other heating needs. Importantly, 100 percent of donations remain in Ottawa County, directly supporting local households.
“Walk for Warmth allows us to step in when families are facing difficult choices—such as keeping the heat on or covering other basic needs,” said Jennifer Brozowski, Program Director at OCCAA. “These locally raised funds help bridge gaps that other programs cannot always cover, especially for working families experiencing short-term crises.”
The event includes a short, family-friendly walk, opportunities to donate, and a silent auction, which will be available both in person and online. In-person participation is encouraged, but online bidding allows community members to support the cause even if they are unable to attend.
Community members can register to walk, donate, or participate in the silent auction by visiting the event page.
