Ottawa County Emergency Management September Update
***CORRECTION***
Updated to show correct date for CERT Class. The correct date should be September 17 · 6pm - October 29 · 9pm EDT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ottawa County Emergency Management is working hard behind the scenes to support community safety, training, and preparedness. Here are some highlights of what’s coming up and what we’re working on:
Medical Reserve Corps & Emergency Communications
Our Emergency Communications group will be assisting the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) during the upcoming Civil War Re-enactment at VanRaalte Farm in Holland. The MRC will be on-site providing first aid and canteen services for participants and visitors.
Additionally, our Communications team will support the Park to Park Marathon on Saturday, September 27th, helping runners and event organizers stay connected throughout the event. In addition to exercise preparations, they are working to pin down a date to install new coax cabling to the EOC roof. This upgrade will enhance our communications capability and reliability during emergency operations.
Search and Rescue Team Training
The Ottawa County Search and Rescue (SAR) Team recently completed its September monthly training. Team members practiced a variety of search techniques and finished the day with a friendly competition to put their skills to the test.
