Ottawa County Reflects on
Emergency Management Awareness Month
As August comes to a close, Ottawa County Emergency Management would like to thank our community, partners, and volunteers for their active participation during Emergency Management Month. This month provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of preparedness, strengthen relationships, and reinforce our commitment to protecting the residents of Ottawa County.
Building a Culture of Preparedness
Throughout the month, we encouraged families, schools, businesses, and organizations to review their emergency plans, update supplies, and practice readiness. Preparedness is not a one-time activity—it’s a culture we build together. From reviewing evacuation routes to knowing how to stay informed during a crisis, every step taken strengthens our community’s resilience.
Partnerships That Protect
Emergency management does not happen in isolation. This month underscored the importance of collaboration between first responders, local governments, schools, hospitals, non-profits, and community groups. By working together, we ensure that Ottawa County is better prepared to respond to emergencies ranging from severe weather to hazardous materials incidents.
