A FREE training is happening this month, sponsored and funded by CMH of Ottawa County Collaborative to Strengthen Youth & Families and Pathwaves Partnership. This training is geared specifically for OTTAWA COUNTY nurses, social workers and professionals who work with youth and families.
• Title: Supporting Youth in the Digital World: Managing Harms and Problematic Media use

• Date: Friday, May 30, 8 am-12 (registration 7:30-8)

• Location: Ottawa County Administration Building Main Conference room – Fillmore Complex, 12220 Fillmore Street, West Olive

• Course description: This training is designed for social workers, nurses and professionals who work with youth and families navigating the digital world. This course will explore the latest research on social media’s impact, provide strategies for identifying and intervening in problematic use with practical tools to help youth establish healthy digital habits. Attendees will practice strengths-based approaches for gathering a history about social media use, resources to use when harms are disclosed, and how to involve caregivers in positive behavior change.

• Presenter: Dr. Jenny Radesky, M.D., Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician, University of Michigan

Dr. Radesky has a wealth of experience and expertise, and her research focuses on mobile technology, parenting and child development.
