Early Voting
A Record Breaking 9 Days
Ottawa County saw a huge increase in early voting turnout for the General Election. Over the course of 9 days, over 33,000 voters cast their ballot in-person.
Check out the chart below to see how early voting numbers have increased throughout 2024.
Ottawa County is right on the heels of the State for overall voter turnout!
We cannot thank our poll inspectors and local clerks enough for all the hard work they put in over the last 9 days to make this cycle of Early Voting so successful!
Election Conversations
Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the Elections' Community Conversations last month.
Clerk/Register Justin Roebuck and Elections Supervisor Katie Bard enjoyed discussing election law updates and election security with attendees. They were joined by representatives from Keep our Republic who moderated the discussions.
We owe a big "thank you" to Loutit District Library and Spring Lake District Library for generously hosting these events.
Spring Lake District Library Oreo Mock Election Youth Program
Clerk/Register Justin Roebuck and Elections Supervisor Katie Bard had a little extra fun before the Spring Lake Election Conversation. They held a mock election for a group of young Spring Lake District Library patrons to decide "Which Oreo Flavor is the Best?"
This mock election exercise is a great way to teach kids about the elections process. These young participants get the opportunity to try different flavors of Oreos and then cast their ballot for their favorite flavors. They were also asked to decide their favorite type of cookie, favorite type of dessert, and if they dip their Oreos in milk.
Mint Oreos topped the poll! You have to dip your Oreos in milk. The clear favorite cookie is homemade, of course. But ice cream was the favorite overall dessert.
Thank you Spring Lake District Library for hosting this fun event!
We want to hear from you!
