Ottawa County Probate Court to Relocate to Grand Haven
The Ottawa County Probate Court, located in West Olive since 1991, will be relocating to the Ottawa County Courthouse in Grand Haven. The Probate Court will be closed beginning Thursday, September 19 and will re-open in its new location on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
With the construction of the new Family Justice Center for the Family Division of the 20th Circuit Court in West Olive, space became available for the Probate Court to move into the Ottawa County Courthouse. The Probate Court will be located on the second floor of the Ottawa County Courthouse, with the Honorable Mark A. Feyen presiding in Courtroom 2A.
Pursuant to law, a probate court should be located in the county seat, which, for Ottawa County, is Grand Haven. MCL 600.816. Ottawa County's Probate Court had instead sought and received the approval of the state court administrator to be located in West Olive. However, as the County planned to build the Family Justice Center, plans were also made to return the Ottawa County Probate Court to Grand Haven.
During the closure, litigants will still be able to file documents with the Probate Court electronically but may not receive a response until after the re-location has been completed. Any hearings set to be heard by Judge Feyen after September 23 will be heard in the Ottawa County Courthouse in Grand Haven.
The Ottawa County Probate Court's address, as of September 23, 2024, will be:
