The sunny days are a welcome sight, but some families continue to feel reminders of winter's chill: heating bills and how to pay them. OCCAA in Ottawa County assists financially qualifying families with utility bills, but they need your help. Join Walk for Warmth so that, together, we can keep kids warm. ALL of your gifts stay in Ottawa County.
Last year, donations enabled OCCAA to help 224 local households with past-due utility payments, giving them a one-time helping hand. A single gift can make a big difference to a neighbor struggling to make ends meet. To help, you can:

Walk the 2-mile stroll in Holland on Friday, March 8, at 6pm. Register online at miOtawa.org/w4w. Make a donation of any amount and join others walking for the cause. If a financial gift is not in your budget, you can walk to raise awareness. The location of the walk begins and ends at EV Construction, 86 E 6th Street. There will be indoor activities and music to keep our youngest participants warm. Pizza Parliament and Robinson's Popcorn will be in attendance with food for purchase. There will also be a silent auction, face painting, photo booth, and more.

OCCAA's mission doesn't stop with the walk. OCCAA supports community members year-round through the weatherization program and other energy-saving efforts. Weatherization ensures homes stay cozy during winter and cool during summer by providing energy-saving home improvements for financially qualifying residents. These improvements reduce energy consumption, lower bills, build self-sufficiency and create lasting outcomes.
- OCCAA programs are supported through state and federal grants, not local county tax dollars. Walk for Warmth funds allow OCCAA to reach more local families when those grant funds run out or families are unable to meet the narrow grant guidelines.
