The Ottawa County Board of Commissioners appointed Ms. Kendra Wenzel to the Ottawa County Board today, December 12. Commissioner Wenzel will serve District 6, representing Georgetown Charter Township Precincts 9, 10, 11, 12 13, 14, 15, 16 & 17.
Ms. Wenzel currently serves as precinct delegate and is active in the Ottawa County Republican Party. Her service work includes mentoring young mothers and coordinating volunteers who pack weekend meals for students in need. Professionally, Wenzel worked as a sales consultant for more than two decades. More details.
There were 11 eligible applications received to fill the position of District 6 Commissioner. Five candidates were interviewed for the position.
"Thank you to all of the residents who submitted applications for the District 6 Commissioner position," said Joe Moss, Chair of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners. "Their willingness to serve should be commended, especially their humility and transparency demonstrated in the public interview process."
The Commissioners voted to appoint Kendra Wenzel in a split vote. Ms. Wenzel received six votes, Shawn Haff received two votes and Joseph Parnell McCarter received one vote. Immediately following the vote, Wenzel was sworn in by Justin Roebuck, Ottawa County Clerk-Register of Deeds.
This appointment fills the vacancy left by Kyle Terpstra, who resigned from the board in November citing personal reasons. Wenzel will serve the remainder of the term, ending December 31, 2024.
