The 96th Ave. bridge over the Black River in Zeeland Township has reopened.
As a result, 96th Ave. is now back open between Adams St. and Ottogan St.
All work was completed ahead of the estimated project completion date of Nov. 10, 2023.
BACKGROUND:
The $3.26 million project, located on 96th Ave. between Adams St. and Ottogan St., began in April.
Work consisted of the removal of the existing structure, installation of steel foundation piling, construction of the bridge substructure units, construction of the bridge superstructure, construction of roadway’s approaches to the bridge at both ends, placement of the new asphalt surface on both approaches, installation of guardrailing, and painting and placing the permanent pavement markings on the new asphalt surface.
The replacement means that the previous 10-ton weight limit on the Black River crossing on 96th Ave. will be removed.
