Why is it important to record your activity? First of all, you can see the progress toward meeting your weekly health goal every time you enter your minutes. Secondly, being aware of the activity you do each day can help you develop good exercise habits.
Lastly, to have your name entered into the weekly prize drawing, be sure to record your activity each week. For June 18-24, record your minutes of activity by this coming Wednesday, June 28. You can record your minutes of activity by entering your email on the Step it Up! login page found at miottawa.org/stepitup

You can find the survey by logging into the Step it Up! website with your email address. The survey should appear after you log in. Healthy Snacking!
"Build your own. Make your own snack mix with unsalted nuts and add-ins such as seeds, unsweetened whole-grain cereal, raisins or other dried fruit and plain popcorn. Prep ahead. Wash and cut up fresh vegetables and portion them into reusable containers so they’re ready to grab-and-go. Many veggies can be prepped this way. Make it a combo. Combine food groups to build satisfying snacks—yogurt and berries, apples with nut butter, or whole grain crackers with turkey or meatless alternative and avocado. Be creative! Choose vibrant vegetables. Colorful and crunchy raw vegetables are a healthy choice. Try dipping broccoli, zucchini sticks, or baby carrots in hummus, guacamole, or a low-fat yogurt sauce. Wash and enjoy. Fresh fruit makes a great go-to snack when you are looking for a quick sweet treat. Apples, pears, grapes and bananas are always easy and fast. Keep healthy options handy. Keep nutritious snack options, such as fruits and vegetables, visible and within reach in the fridge or on the counter for a convenient anytime snack." Try this tasty snack loaded with calcium, vitamin C, and folate—Fruit Salad with Orange-Yogurt Dressing. For a variation, adjust the fruit to fit the season. These crispy Roasted Brussels Sprout Chips also make a great snack or try the Roasted Chickpeas with Cajun Spices. Both make deliciously crunchy treats that are hard to resist. Hungry for hummus? Try these two tasty protein-rich hummus recipes—Spicy Hummus Quick Chickpea Spread and Italian Hummus. Serve it with a variety of vegetables—beets, watermelon radish and more, toasted pine nuts, whole-grain pitas and crackers, or make a veggie wrap for a light simple snack—Hummus Veggie Wraps.
