❄️ The Pigeon Creek Lodge will open for cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals today at 2 pm!

Pigeon Creek Lodge

The Pigeon Creek Lodge will be open for concessions this year. We are excited to welcome you back!

Equipment Rental

  • Ski and snowshoe rental will be available in the lodge on a first come first serve basis; equipment cannot be reserved in advance.
  • Capacity may be limited inside the rental area; be prepared to wait outdoors
  • A picture ID or credit card is required as security for all rentals

Rental Hours*

  • Monday-Thursday, 2-8 pm, no rentals after 6:30 pm
  • Friday, 1-10 pm, no rentals after 8:30 pm
  • Saturday, 9 am-10 pm, no rentals after 8:30 pm
  • Sunday, 9 am- 8 pm, no rentals after 6:30 pm

*Please note that rental is only offered during good ski conditions. Check our trail conditions page before you visit.

Rental Pricing

  • There are no entry or trail fees
  • Cross-country ski or snowshoe rental (three hours): $8; $2 per additional hour
  • Snowshoe rental for those 6 and under is free with a paid adult rental

Ski Lessons

Beginner, intermediate, and skate ski lessons will be offered. Check our program calendar to register.

*Pigeon Creek Lodge is the only Parks facility that rents cross-country skis.

Special Event - Snowshoe & Cross-Country Ski Biathlon

January 22, 2022 - Pigeon Creek Park, 8 am

Event Information

Participants of all skill levels are welcome to this fun, low key snowshoe and cross-country ski biathlon. The distances are approximate, 1 mile snowshoe run/walk followed immediately by a 3-mile freestyle (skate or classical allowed) cross-country ski through the beautiful, groomed, rolling trails of the park. The Pigeon Creek Biathlon will become a running race if there is not enough snow. 

Proceeds support the work of the Parks Foundation in providing additional funding for the expansion and improvement of our parks, and nature education.  

Entry Fee

$75 per person and ski and snowshoe rentals if needed will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis at an additional cost. Participant prizes and medals for top three in their division.

Relay Teams

Two-person relay teams are welcome! Sign up as individuals and include a team name in the registration. Each individual will receive a prize if the team places in the top three!


Hemlock Crossing Nature Center

Hemlock Crossing Park is another popular destination during winter offering snowshoe rentals at the Nature Center during regular business hours. 

Snowshoe Rental

  • Tuesday through Saturday: 9am - 5pm (gear due back by 4pm)
  • Sunday: 12-5 pm (gear due back by 4 pm)
  • Confirm whether snowshoe rental is available online at miottawa.org/trails
  • Snowshoes are available for ages 4 and older
