In-person Dining Opens Today

The Ottawa County Department of Public Health is excited to partner with restaurants as they open for in-person dining beginning today. As your restaurant opens, please remember the following requirements from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Epidemic Order.

  1. Guests must be seated to eat or drink.
  2. All guests must be masked unless seated at their table. Employees must be masked.
  3. Establishments must collect a name and phone number for dine-in customers to assist in contact tracing.
  4. Parties are limited to six patrons from one household per table. All parties must be seated so the patrons at one table are six or more feet away from patrons at other tables.
  5. The restaurant must be closed to guests from 10 pm until 4 am. Guests should be seated with enough time to dine and exit the building before 10 pm.
  6. A facility is limited to 25% occupancy for indoor dining. This can be no more than 100 people.
  7. Guests may not congregate, dance or otherwise mingle in a common area of the restaurant. This includes a waiting area in which guests are waiting for seating.
  8. If an employee at a food service establishment tests positive for COVID-19, the restaurant must close to completely clean the facility before serving food again.
  9. The venue must display the "Dining during COVID-19" brochure.

If you have any other questions, please contact the Food Safety team or your inspector at 616-393-5645 or environmentalhealth@miottawa.org.
