Ottawa County Board of Commissioners Chairman Urges Governor to Open Restaurants

In a letter sent to Governor Gretchen Whitmer on January 21, the Chairman of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners urged Michigan's leader to open restaurants to safe, indoor dining in advance of the planned February 1 reopening date. Roger Bergman, Chair of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners, said in the letter, "Our restaurant industry is at the end of its rope." He also added that restaurants are "stretched to or beyond the breaking point" and "are bearing a disproportionate share of the community COVID-19 economic burden."

This is the third instance that the Ottawa County Board has reached out to Governor Whitmer, pressing her to reopen the economy.
