Weekly Construction Update: May 29, 2020

Riley St. to close between 8th, 16th Aves.

WHAT: Road Closure

WHERE: Riley Street

SEGMENT: 8th Ave. to 16th Ave.

TOWNSHIP: Jamestown

START DATE: Monday, June 1, 2020

ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE: Friday, June 12, 2020

PROJECT DETAILS: The Ottawa County Road Commission will be replacing cross tiles on Riley Street between 8th Avenue and 16th Avenue in Jamestown Township beginning Monday, June 1, 2020. As a result, the road will be closed to through traffic. The project is estimated to be completed by Friday, June 12, but all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

DETOUR: The traffic detour route will consist of 16th Ave./Byron Rd./8th Ave.

Lane Closures: 68th Ave. between Leonard Rd., Osborn St., June 1

68th Avenue lane closures

A temporary lane closure is planned starting at 8 a.m. Monday, July 1, on 68th Avenue over the Grand River, south of Leonard Rd.

Contractors plan to temporarily close lanes of 68th Avenue while contractors involved in the upcoming 68th Avenue bridge project put barges in the water.

Traffic on 68th Avenue will be maintained in both directions using temporary flag control, so expect delays.

This work is being done in advance of a bridge project slated to start on June 8 and last through July 31, and will result in the total closure of 68th Avenue over the Grand River between Leonard Rd. and Osborn St.

2020 cape seal surfacing program underway

The OCRC has contracted with Strawser Construction to do cape seal treatment on roads in Polkton, Tallmadge and Wright townships over the next month.

The contractor’s initial tentative schedule for the chip seal portion of the project, weather permitting, is:

Friday, May 29: Wilson St., from 80th Ave. to 48th Ave.
Saturday, May 30: 56th Ave., from Cleveland St. to Wilson St.
Sunday, May 31: 24th Ave., from Cleveland St. to Wilson St.
Monday, June 1: 8th Ave., from M-45 to M-11

The schedule for the remainder of the streets is to-be-determined.
