Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority welcomes new director
The Ottawa County Central Dispatch Authority has hired Peter McWatters to head 911 services. McWatters will take his post on September 19. At 10 AM, a welcome reception will be held at the Ottawa County's Central Dispatch Center (12101 Stanton Street) at the Fillmore Campus. The reception is open to the public.
"The Ottawa County Central Dispatch Center has a solid reputation in the police, fire and EMS communities. I know I am starting a job with an organization that has high standards and an organization that performs at a high level on a daily basis," said Peter McWatters. "I look forward to meeting and working with the dedicated employees that make the Ottawa County Central Dispatch Center such a successful operation."
Peter McWatters is a 28 year veteran of law enforcement, working 25 years for the City of Grand Rapids Police Department. For the past seven of those years, he oversaw the City's Support Services Unit including 9-1-1.
McWatters replaces Tim Smith who retired in July after 13 years in the role.
