Pick for Pantries

Grab a donation bucket at participating farms the next time you pick!

Many Ottawa County families face hunger and barriers to accessing healthy foods*. Ottawa Food is a collaborative that develops programs, like Pick for Pantries, to help address some of these challenges. Ottawa Food partnered with local U-pick farms such as Visser’s Berry Patch, Bowerman Blueberries, Crossroads Blueberries, Rasch Cherries and Apples and Grange Apple Orchard. Customers can grab a Pick for Pantries bucket at these participating farms and donate a portion of their U-pick berries, cherries and apples to a local food pantry. Families who have a need will receive the fruit donations.

"Many people in our community don’t have access to fresh local produce that so many look forward to each summer," said Lisa Uganski, Ottawa Food coordinator. "We can help provide juicy strawberries and tasty apples to people in need by participating in the Pick for Pantries program, which also supports local growers."

Visit the Ottawa Food Facebook page for more information on the 2019 Pick for Pantry program dates (based on weather and farm availability), locations and beneficiary organizations.
