WHEN: Starting Monday, June 3, 2019
WHERE: 32nd Avenue, from Riley Street to Quincy Street, in Jamestown Township.
WHY: Intersection & Road Widening
BACKGROUND: On Monday, June 3, 2019, the Ottawa County Road Commission will begin a project to widen the intersection at Riley Street and 32nd Avenue. The Riley intersection will be widened 300 feet west and 300 feet east of 32nd Avenue, with both right and left turn lanes added.
This work will result in the closure of the Riley Street/32nd Avenue intersection west of 32nd Avenue for one week, beginning June 3. The detour for this one-week closure is 40th Avenue to Byron Road to 32nd Avenue.
This scheduled project also involves widening 32nd Avenue to three lanes between Greenly and Quincy streets. Crews will focus on intersection and widening work on the west side of 32nd, then move to the east side. During work on the west side, 32nd Avenue will only be open to northbound traffic. When work commences on the east side, 32nd Avenue will be open to southbound traffic.
Please note that there will be one day, to be announced, when both north and southbound lanes of traffic on 32nd Avenue will be closed for a culvert crossing. The detour when this work occurs will follow Greenly Street east to 24th Avenue then south to Riley Street, then back west to 32nd Avenue.
The entire project is expected last 6 weeks, however all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.
