Ottawa County is Searching for a New Parks Director
The Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Department is now searching for a full-time Parks Director to oversee the department. Under the direction of the Ottawa County Parks & Recreation Commission and Ottawa County Commissioners, the Parks Director oversees acquisition, development, operation, and maintenance of 27 County Parks and 12 Open Space lands, totaling nearly 7,000 acres. The Parks Director also oversees 22 permanent staff and 89 seasonal staff.
The Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission was created in 1987 to oversee the management and operation of the county parks system. John Scholtz, Ottawa County Parks’ first and only Director since the Parks Commission was formed in 1987, is retiring in June 2019.
