School is out for the summer. Still, the Ottawa County Sheriff's School Resource Officers  are springing into action--at Rebounderz Indoor Trampoline Arena in Jenison--on Thursday, June 14. The officers will be taking kids through lessons in law enforcement at the "Super Cool Sheriff's School." About 200 fourth and fifth graders will be led through a series of exercises teaching them about laws and safety. At the end of the day, kids will leave as "junior cadets" of the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

Ottawa County's ten School Resource Officers have important jobs to do in the county's 130+ school buildings. While some time is spent helping schools enforce rules or responding to a school fight, more of their days are invested in building relationships, mentoring, and being role models for kids. Having positive police interactions reinforces that the Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies are here to help and establishes a trust that can last a lifetime.

Sponsors for the "Super Cool Sheriff's School" include: Advanced Interiors, Meijer, Ottawa-Kent Insurance, State Farm-Aaron Dozeman, Lake Michigan Credit Union, Sprinkles, Family Fare, Rebounderz, Three Men & a Grill, West Michigan Community Bank and West Shore Sports & Apparel.
