Ottawa County makes a home on Houzz!

Ottawa County has joined Houzz (houzz.com), pioneering Houzz's new initiative to connect governments with residents and local home professionals throughout the residential construction process. Houzz is the leading platform for home remodeling and design. Houzz users can follow Ottawa County at https://www.houzz.com/city/ottawa-county. 

The integration with Houzz enables Ottawa County to provide residents and home professionals with important information and updates. With a Houzz profile, Ottawa County can engage with residents earlier in their building process and stay engaged with them throughout and after their project. The profile also highlights home projects on Houzz in Ottawa County. Houzz launched profiles for local governments this year in response to requests from Houzz users for more information about local permitting processes.  

“Houzz is a powerful platform where homeowners and home professionals are communicating with each other,” said Shannon Felgner, Ottawa County Communications Manager. “Having a presence on Houzz enables us to better serve Ottawa County by providing residents with the information they need to facilitate the remodeling, building and construction process. People often know that they need permits in order to upgrade their space, but are unsure of where to go. Our profile helps owners find what they need quickly, either from the county or from their city or township.” Residential single family home permits issued throughout Ottawa County were up 14% from 2015 to 2016 and were valued at $259.6 million. Residential building in the area increased by more than 125% compared to numbers from five years ago.
