What steps can be taken to strengthen public trust and confidence in the police in your community?
That is the question the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office and its law enforcement partners on the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards are asking. Answers will be used to create formal recommendations to improve police-community relationships, training and recruiting across the state. Complete the survey online until March 20. (The link is also available on miOttawa.org.)
The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) is a state commission whose members represent law enforcement, prosecution, defense, labor and the public. The 19 commissioners set standards for the law enforcement profession in Michigan, including police selection, training, recruitment and professional licensing.
