Coffee with Cops Brewing in Zeeland
You can catch a few cops have coffee on the job in Zeeland—and join them. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office invites community members to join the area police force at 7-Eleven on July 29 from 9-10:30 am. Coffee with Cops is an informal time where residents can meet the reps from their local law enforcement teams, ask questions and introduce concerns. A freshly brewed cup of coffee will be free, thanks to 7-Eleven.
“Similar events in Hudsonville and Allendale were positive. We are looking forward to the opportunity to have conversations and build relationships with the residents of Zeeland in an informal atmosphere.” said Captain Valerie Weiss.
The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that deputies are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with Cops breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed interaction.
