Additional retirement contributions

Participating Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System (MPSERS) K-12 districts, charter schools/PSAs, and intermediate districts will soon see allocations established per Public Act 144 of 2022, Section 147c(2).

Beginning in mid-November (through mid-August) ORS will invoice 147c(2) MPSERS One Time Deposit amounts under the Additional Retirement Contributions line of the employer statement, in addition to UAAL Rate Stabilization invoices. The two amounts will appear on your statement together as two different line items.

Additional Retirement Contributions

Letters indicating the amounts owed are visible under Invoice History, listed as “Additional Retirement Contributions Due for MM YYYY.

Note: Universities, community colleges, and libraries will not be invoiced 147c(2) MPSERS One Time Deposit, but will still be responsible for UAAL Rate Stabilization invoices.

Finding information in past newsletters or emails

Magnifying glass over newspaper

Last month’s newsletter included an overview of some changes to the Employer Communications section of the Employer Information website (PSRU). One change that will make it easier to locate past information is the way our newsletters now appear in Employer Communications. Instead of showing the whole newsletter, clicking a newsletter link now shows a list of articles in the issue:

Employer Communications - Newsletters

The top link takes you to the full issue as before, and the links below jump directly to the specific articles.

In addition, words in past content are searchable. Using the search tool, you can (for example) see a list of newsletters or emails that contain the word “audit.”

Lastly, all articles are tagged with one of several common topics that can be used to filter articles. By applying one of these filters, you can more quickly find newsletter issues or emails that contain information on that topic.

These tools work for communications sent beginning January 2022. For older communications, use the link at the top of the Employer Communications page to view a simple list of links.

FOIA notifications update

FOIA (Freedom of Information)

We’ve changed our process for notifying members about FOIA requests. When we provide information due to a FOIA request, rather than sending out notification emails, we now post the notification to our website here: Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) .
