Payroll calendar survey extended

As part of a financial audit, The Office of Retirement Services (ORS) sent a survey invitation email from ors- outreach@ michigan.gov via research.net to select staff at each reporting unit. The survey asks for information regarding when wages are earned compared to your reporting unit’s pay cycle. This information is vital for end of the year budget planning.

If you have already completed the survey, thank you for providing the information. There is no further action needed.

For surveys that have not been completed, the completion date has been changed to accommodate those who are on vacation or working summer hours. We ask all reporting units to complete the survey by the end of the day Friday, Aug. 20.

Survey invitations were sent on Monday, Aug. 2, Thursday, Aug. 5, and Wednesday, Aug 11.

If you are not the correct person to provide the data, please forward the email to the correct person. Please check your junk or spam folders, as the survey may be there.

If you are a contact for multiple reporting units, it is possible an invitation has been sent to another contact within your reporting unit. Please check with your other contacts on file with ORS to see whether someone else may have received the invitation for the other reporting unit(s).

ORS returns to in-person work

Mason Building Street View

The Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS) staff will be returning to the office at the Mason Building in Lansing. The ORS walk-in office will remain closed. For the convenience of our members, ORS expects to install a secure document drop box inside the lobby of the Mason Building this fall. The ORS drop box will be available during business hours, and ORS staff will regularly retrieve and process the documents.

ORS has representatives available in its contact center and miAccount from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, to answer any questions members may have. Members (including you) can reach us by sending a message through the miAccount Message Board or at 800-381-5111. Our member website, Michigan.gov/ORSSchools is a great resource for member information.

Website has new hire resources

We've made it easier to find resources you may want for your new hires who are also new members of MPSERS. Below the Welcome and What’s New sections on the Employer Information home page, you'll see a new section: New Hire Retirement Plan Resources.

It shows the link to PickMiPlan.com, where new members can find the Retirement Plan Election Guide, the Retirement Plan Decision Guide, and other information that they may need to make an informed retirement plan election. It also provides sample message you can send to employees who are new to MPSERS.

Helpful Tip – Updating Contact Information

As the new school year is approaching, there may be many changes to your payroll staff or Superintendent, so it is important your Web Administrator updates your contact information as soon as possible. Please see Chapter 12: Managing Web User Accounts of the Reporting Instruction Manual on how to update contact information or to create new user accounts.
