Freezing weather will soon be upon us. School children, seniors and persons with disabilities or physical challenges deserve clear, safe sidewalks to get around Troy. For those who rely on sidewalks to carry out their daily activities, it is important that sidewalks be clear of snow and ice. Building occupants and property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the public sidewalks adjacent to their property.
Snow and ice should be cleared from the sidewalks within 12 hours after snow or ice stops falling during daylight hours or by 6 pm the following day if it stops during the nighttime. If you are going away for a period of time, please make arrangements to have your sidewalks cleared while you are gone.
To view the City Sidewalk Code, go to the City Code & Charter, Chapter 34, Section 11 or visit the Code Enforcement webpage. If you need immediate assistance, please call Zoning and Compliance Specialist Paul Evans at 248.524.3359.
