One of the really great perks of leading a county as big as Oakland is that I get to meet some truly remarkable people during my travels around the 62 cities, villages and townships that make up our home.
Last year, a group of 40 young professionals – all younger than 40 – reminded me that there are so many talented, passionate people doing great things in Oakland County.
The members of the Oakland Together 40 under 40 Class of 2024 all are having notable successes in their careers and big impacts in their communities. They are teaching high school and college students and performing the important work that drives our economy. These are people who are bright stars and future leaders.
I won’t single out any of them because they’re all phenomenal. But you can learn more about them and all the other 40 under 40 classes over the years by going to oakgov.com/40under40.
And we’re now on the hunt for the 2025 class of incredible young and dynamic leaders who live or work in Oakland County.
Applications opened on Monday for the 13th class of leaders and will remain open until Jan. 31.
I think it’s important to recognize outstanding young individuals who have achieved success in their careers while providing exceptional service to their communities. Those are values that we hold and celebrate here in Oakland County because hard work and compassion are driving positive change in our county and state.
Individuals can find out more information and apply for the 2025 40 under 40 Class by filling out the form at oakgov.com/40under40. A committee comprised of community members and county leadership will select the 2025 Class, which will be announced in April.
This is an opportunity to meet and network with some truly special people. It’s a chance to learn a little bit more about county government and for me to be able to pick your brain about your careers, your dreams and how we might be able to learn from each other.
If you know someone who might be a good fit for this year’s 40 under 40 class – candidates must be at least 18 (born after Dec. 31, 1984), and live or work in Oakland County – please encourage them to apply. I can’t wait to meet them.
