 Hello Immunization Partners,
Please share the following information with staff and colleagues.
The division of Immunization has been receiving calls from providers with concerns on how the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccines are being displayed in MCIR. The 24-25 COVID-19 vaccine CVX codes are the same as they were for the 23-24 COVID-19 vaccines. The CVX currently displays in MCIR as 23-24 instead of 24-25 as follows:
We are aware of this issue and the MCIR tech team is working to update the display. This should be corrected with the September 4th, 2024, MCIR release.
As part of FDA's actions, the 2023-2024 Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines are no longer authorized for use in the United States. To minimize the risk of vaccine administration errors, providers should:
- Remove all 2023-2024 mRNA COVID-19 vaccines from storage units immediately, even if they are not expired.
For VFC Providers: Return all unused 2023-2024 mRNA COVID-19 vaccines to McKesson using the normal process for returning spoiled/expired vaccines.
For VFC Providers: 2023-2024 Moderna vaccines ordered that are currently in transit may reach providers over the next 1-2 days. Providers should accept COVID-19 vaccine orders if they receive them post-FDA action. Providers should return these vaccines to McKesson using the normal process for returning spoiled/expired vaccines.
Please see interim clinical considerations for clinical guidance.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
Thank you,
Oakland County Health Division, Immunization Action Plan
