The program is offering grants worth $50,000 - $250,000 each. The funds are available to businesses, non-profits, communities, schools, and others that are part of Michigan’s circular economy. Applicants do not have to be current or previous participants in the NextCycle Michigan program to apply; however, current and previous NextCycle Michigan participants can apply for the Circular Economy Grants. They are accepting applications from July 8 – Aug 19, 2024.

Supported projects include those:

• Developing new technologies that improve material recovery.
• Creating new methods or products that utilize significant amounts of recycled content.
• Adapting recycled material supply chains to feed end markets.
• Increasing end-market use of organic materials.
• Scaling reuse- or repair-based business models.

This program is being funded by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) in partnership with the NextCycle Michigan program. Grant funds are provided via reimbursement of expenses and can be utilized for equipment and supplies, research and testing, data analysis and collection, marketing and promotion, travel (aligned with the state travel rates) and/or services related to expenditures. The grants have an award cap based on expenditure type and a required match based on applicant type.
