Oakland County, Michigan sent this bulletin at 12/19/2023 09:29 AM ESTThis email is being sent to VFC, Non-VFC and Covid-19 Providers in Oakland County, Michigan by the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) Immunization Action Plan (IAP)
Dear OB/GYN Partners,
Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) clinics now are stocking bivalent RSVpreF vaccine (Abrysvo) for pregnant people. People who are 32 through 36 weeks pregnant during September through January should get one dose of maternal RSV vaccine (Abrysvo) to protect their infants.
Infants born to mothers who get RSV vaccine (Abrysvo) at least 2 weeks before delivery will have protection and, in most cases, should not need the monoclonal antibody product, nirsevimab (Beyfortus). On October 23, 2023, CDC released a health advisory notice to communicate interim recommendations regarding the limited supply of nirsevimab (Beyfortus) in the 2023-24 RSV season. It is important that maternal healthcare providers talk to their patients about the RSV vaccine, Abrysvo, given during pregnancy to prevent severe RSV disease in their infants, especially during this time of limited supply of nirsevimab (Beyfortus).
OCHD has Abrysvo vaccine at both offices: Southfield and Pontiac. Please click here for more clinic information, address, and hours. Any questions, please call the OCHD Nurse on Call at 1-800-848-5533.
Thank you,
Oakland County Health Division, Immunization Action Plan
