August Meeting follow-up

At the August meeting, we began brainstorming ways to focus on other parts of the strategic plan that don't have specific workgroups. The other aspects of the strategic plan include: neighborhood safety, access to healthcare, and additional strategies that didn't fit neatly into other categories. If you would like to add anything to the brainstorming document, you can access the Jamboard here. 

*Note: We will revisit this brainstorming session at the October meeting, so if you want to add any ideas there, you can as well.

The October meeting will be hybrid! You can join the meeting online or in person. The in-person meeting will be held at UWM Sports Complex (867 S. Blvd. E, Pontiac, 48341). Centro Multicultural La Familia events

Join Centro Multicultural La Familia at their back-to-school  event on Wednesday, August 31 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. There will be dental screenings, information, fun, games, and immunizations available. Check out the flyer below to register! Health insurance is not needed.

Sherriff PAL updates

New Birth International Church in the Park event Come out for summer fun on Friday, August 18 at New Birth International Church for their Church in the Park event. There will be resource tables, food, fun, health screenings, and games.

Oakland County Health Division's Bridging the Breastfeeding Gap

Join the Oakland County Health Division in their annual Bridging the Breastfeeding Gap event! Learn about community resources, how to overcome breastfeeding barriers, and local support. See flyer below for registration details. This event will count at a nutrition education lesson for WIC clients in attendance.

Join Oakland County Parks and Pontiac Parks for the See Ya Summer event at the end of August. Come out for some fun at Hawthorne Park! Check out the flyer below for more information. 

We want to hear your thoughts on improvements at Pontiac's Hawthorne Park!

Oakland County Parks and the City of Pontiac have partnered to rejuvenate Hawthorne Park and want to hear from you! This beloved 77-acre park has beautiful trees, nature and access to Creger Lake and Upper Silver Lake. Recreational features include a dock, boat launch, pavilion, playground and disc golf course. Please take our survey and tell us what is important to you at Hawthorne Park. Your input will help us make the improvements that matter most to you and the residents of Pontiac. If you are behind on your water bill or are facing a water shut-off, OLHSA may be able to help. Until September 30, 2023 OLHSA can provide up to $1500 in assistance for those that qualify. Click here for more details.
