Last week, John Wolf-Meyer, Senior Business Development Representative and Chris Michael, Business Development Representative of Oakland County’s National & International Business Attraction team participated in Aeromart Montreal to market and promote Oakland County as a prime business investment location for Research & Development, Engineering and Manufacturing companies from various industries.

Known for attracting international buyers and suppliers from across the international industrial supply chain, Aeromart Montreal brought together 1,400 participants from 800 companies that resulted in 13,300 B2B meetings. Joining them in the Michigan Pavilion were eight Michigan companies. Five of the eight companies are Oakland County-based and included: Barron Industries, Harpco Systems, Parpas America, Rapita Systems, and Triple, Inc. The delegation was organized by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC) program in collaboration with Oakland County Economic Development to support the market and sector diversification plans of Michigan companies.

Since selecting Michigan for Samsung’s first U.S.-based high-volume automotive battery pack manufacturing facility in 2018, they have created nearly 500 jobs in Oakland County, with nearly $62M+ investment in electric vehicle battery manufacturing right here in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Jeanne Broad, Oakland County Economic Development Director and Michael Abdallah, Senior Business Development Representative, joined the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and City of Auburn Hills for a site tour of Samsung SDI to hear about upcoming plans to keep Michigan at the forefront of materials, design, hardware, and software in the battery industry.
