Spring is right around the corner and that can only mean one thing – Oakland County Parks and Recreation golf courses will be opening soon. First, we need your help to prepare our five golf courses for spring and continue to serve guests throughout the 2022 season. If you love the game of golf, consider a job at Glen Oaks, Lyon Oaks, Red Oaks, Springfield Oaks or White Lake Oaks golf courses.

Now is the time to apply! Our golf courses start hiring in March and will open to the public in April. Staff members are needed to work until November, but flexible schedules are available. Many golf course staff members interact with guests daily and welcome the opportunity to discuss golf and help others learn more about the game they love. Others appreciate the ability to work independently outdoors.

OCPR’s golf course supervisors will be interviewing to fill several summer positions. Golf course workers may work in the pro shop or on grounds maintenance crews outdoors. Parks attendants start as cart attendants or in the pro shop. In addition, Lyon Oaks and White Lake Oaks golf courses are hiring for grill room operations and need grill cooks, grill workers and grill wait staff to provide fast and friendly service to individual golfers, leagues and outings.

Individuals ages 16 and older can apply for parks attendant positions while golf course workers and grill room jobs are open to those ages 18 and older. These positions are a wonderful way to begin a career in the golf industry or gain some experience during a summer job serving the public. OCPR will train employees on equipment operation, point of sale and cash handling. 

Another benefit is that parks team members receive free vehicle entry permits and a limited number of passes to enjoy feature attractions throughout the parks system.
