Be sure to take your HIPAA training course for 2021
County employees are reminded that they must complete this year’s HIPAA training by the end of December.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requires all full and part time Oakland County employees to complete the introductory training course, HIPAA Privacy Essentials.
Certain job classifications will require employees to take one or more of the advanced HIPAA training courses based on how they are exposed to and handle personal protected health information.
The preliminary course takes about one hour to complete and can be done on a computer in Workday Learning worklet.
To check the completion status of your HIPAA training, use the Learning Worklet in Workday. Within the Learning Worklet, navigate to “My Transcript” located in the “Progress” menu.
The HIPAA courses that you have taken in the past will be located in your Learning History transcript, as well as the last date the course(s) were completed. If you need to take the course for 2021, click on the course name in blue to be directed to the HIPAA course learning page.
The HIPAA course learning page may state that it has been completed. Click the orange “Retake Course” button to proceed with launching the course. Detailed instructions on these procedures are also located on the Workday homepage in the Announcements.
Employees need to act quickly to take part in health screening program
Time is running out for employees to participate in a health screening program and receive a $100 incentive for doing so.
To participate, employees will need to schedule and attend their yearly well-being visit with their primary care physician before the end of December and the physician will complete the required screening form. On-site screenings will not be offered this year.
Employees will receive the $100 incentive when they complete both their physical and health assessment.
Deadline for completing the annual physical is Dec.31. Please note, Acute care clinics (minute clinics & urgent care clinics) do not qualify as a primary care visit.
