The Oakland County Board of Commissioners has returned to in-person meetings for standing committee and full Board meetings. The Board has adjusted standard meeting procedures to adhere to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Oakland County Health Division regarding physical distancing, proper hand hygiene and facial coverings. Those who wish to participate in public comment during upcoming in-person standing committee and full meetings will have the opportunity to address the Board onsite. All visitors are expected to follow posted guidelines. Individuals who wish to attend meetings onsite may come to the Board Auditorium, located in the Oakland County Courthouse at 1200 N. Telegraph Rd., Bldg. 12 East, in Pontiac.

The Health Division’s website for information related to COVID-19 vaccines, www.OaklandCountyVaccine.com, remains the best resource for residents to stay up to date regarding vaccinations in Oakland County. The site allows visitors to find vaccine providers in their communities and access current information about eligibility and distribution.
Those who live, work or study in Oakland County can make appointments or walk in for vaccinations through Save Your Spot Community Clinics hosted by the county. For the most current availability, list of locations and date information, visit www.OaklandCountyVaccine.com.
The website also maintains a list of additional providers currently allowing people to sign up for vaccine appointments or using online medical charts or portals to notify individuals when they can make appointments. They include Ascension Providence, Beaumont Health, Henry Ford Health System, McLaren Oakland, St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, Meijer, Kroger, Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens.

On May 11, the Oakland County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF), along with the Michigan Abolitionist Project (MAP), hosted a special event to help connect local agencies with statewide groups in human trafficking prevention efforts. The virtual session, titled “Improving Our Collective Response to Human Trafficking: Fostering Task Forces for Governmental Agencies and Municipalities,” featured panel discussions and networking opportunities to help share information and build relationships.
The OCHTTF was created under the authorization of the Board of Commissioners in 2015. The goal of the task force is to serve as the leading resource for Oakland County in the prevention of human trafficking and in the protection and rehabilitation of victims, through education, advocacy and collaboration.

Young people ages 16 - 24 years old who are looking for career-oriented employment opportunities can apply to the Oakland NEXT: Summer Young Professionals program administered by Oakland County Michigan Works! The program, which runs through December, offers paid internship and work experiences to eligible persons in a variety of growing industries, including construction, manufacturing, health care and information technology.
The Summer Young Professionals program also provides tuition assistance to earn certifications, as well as financial support and other incentives. Program eligibility is based on several factors and will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Individuals interested in applying for the Summer Young Professionals program should visit www.OakGov.com/YoungProfessionals.
Employers who would like to offer paid internships and work experiences should visit the website’s “Employers” section and submit an interest form. A business services representative will contact the employer to discuss its workforce needs.

The Oakland County Legal Resources Center (LRC) is permanently closed to in-person visitors.
The LRC will continue to serve its clients virtually. Assistance is currently available by phone and email only, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 to 4 p.m.

Oakland County and Honor Community Health recently celebrated the grand opening of Honor’s clinics, which are co-located at Oakland County Health Division's offices in Pontiac and Southfield. The clinics offer affordable health care for residents, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
Honor Community Health provides a broad range of primary, behavioral health, and dental care for the community at the Health Division's North Oakland Health Center in Pontiac on Mondays and Wednesdays and at the South Oakland Health Center in Southfield on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Services will include primary care, chronic disease management (high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, etc.), reproductive health services for males and females (birth control, STI screening, basic infertility, pregnancy testing and more) women's health, pediatric services and dental services (limited onsite/appointment only). These services are meant to serve as a complement to those already provided by the Health Division.

Oakland County Parks and Recreation is hosting its TrailBlazer Walking Series throughout the summer, during which residents can lightly exercise and learn about the parks.
Each walk has a specific discussion topic, and the informational one-mile hikes are free. Attendees must register to attend.
