Spring is a time of excitement in the garden--emerging seedlings, unfurling leaves, and new transplants. The goal in a vegetable garden is a harvest of delicious produce. How do you keep the vegetable plants healthy until they produce a harvest?
In this virtual class, we'll discuss choosing plants, plant problems to scout for, and how lots of garden selfies can help make you a better gardener. This two-hour class will be delivered online via Zoom on June 3, at 6:00 p.m.

Tollgate Garden Volunteers Plant Sale
The annual plant sale will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13. Due to Covid considerations, all participants in the plant sale will need to pre-register to attend.
The plant sale features lots of perennials, all in great condition. We sell hundreds of plants each sale from hostas to ornamental grasses and everything in between. There will be garden volunteers on hand to help you select just the right bit of green for your yard. The Plant Sale is the primary fundraiser for Tollgate’s horticultural activities. All of the money raised goes directly into the gardens. If you’re looking for a good deal on some great healthy plants come join us!

Join Extension Educators from metro Detroit and across the state at this new virtual series designed to encourage and support home vegetable gardeners!

Wayne County Extension Master Gardener Coordinator Deirdre Hope will show you how to construct a trellis to grow your peas and/or beans on. Explore other methods of taking growing up with Deirdre as she shares a wealth of methods and strategies for vertical gardening.

September 11 - Veggie Harvest and Storage

Rochester Garden Walk
June 17
10 a.m. to 5 p.m
Have an intimate look at unique private gardens in the greater Rochester area and a public garden with a special purpose.
In addition to the gardens, participants can enjoy the grounds and activities scheduled at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farms. Activities include a native plant sale, new and gently used garden items for sale, and a free program at 11 am on beekeeping.
Advance tickets are $12 and will be available online through noon on June 16 on the Museum website, http://rochesterhills.org/musprograms . They can also be purchased in person at select locations.Tickets will be exchanged for Garden Guides (Location map) at the Museum. Garden Guides can also be purchased on the day of the event at the Museum for $16.
We ask all participants to abide by the current CDC guidelines for Covid restrictions, including social distancing and masking when required.

The Meadow Brook Garden Club invites garden clubs to schedule a horticultural tour of the gardens surrounding Meadow Brook Hall during the months of June, July, and August . A trained, knowledgeable docent will guide your group through the gardens and provide details about the plantings, design and maintenance of each.
$50 for up to 12 people, $5 for each additional person.
Tour lasts approximately 2 ½ hours.

Tollgate Garden Volunteers
Are you a Master Gardener or a home gardener who wants to expand your experiences and knowledge? MSU Tollgate Gardens are the perfect place for you. Here is the opportunity to continue your education by working with seasoned gardeners. These smart and welcoming people are always happy to share their knowledge.
Being a Tollgate volunteer has many advantages: participating in monthly programs with speakers, sharing your gardening experiences and making new friends. Garden workdays during pandemic precautions are arranged in groups of 2-3 with the lead of an experienced garden volunteer. The multiple gardens at Tollgate allow for a variety of experiences.
Tollgate is a 160 acre "oasis" located in the heart of Novi at the corner of Meadowbrook and 12 Mile Roads. Just look for the long white fence.

Meadow Brook Garden Club maintains the gardens on the estate grounds of Meadow Brook Hall.
All who are interested in gardening are invited to join in helping to maintain these beautiful gardens, designated as a Proven Winners Signature Garden. Master Gardeners and candidates will earn volunteer hours toward your Master Gardener required hours.
Bring hand tools (pruners, trowel, cultivator) and any other gardening items that you normally use. Come and join us and meet fellow gardening enthusiasts. Experience is not required.
