Dear Oakland County Resident,
I hope you are staying healthy! We continue full speed ahead vaccinating as many people as possible. By Sunday, we will have scheduled over 11,000 vaccination appointments this week. I’m encouraged by the strong progress we’re making and look forward to serving more individuals in the weeks to come.
Through February 1, the Health Division has administered 19,424 doses. Our new vaccination locations at West Bloomfield Fire Department and United Food and Commercial Workers 876 ran smoothly and extended the geographic reach of our vaccination clinics to ensure increased access.
Please take a few minutes and watch my weekly Vaccine Update video for more information about how Oakland County is progressing with our vaccination efforts.
Thank you for your patience and support as we implement the largest vaccination effort we have ever undertaken. We are making history! Every kind acknowledgment received on social media (find us on Facebook at @publichealthOC) or face-to-face expressions of gratitude reminds us of the remarkable strides we are making.
In good health,
Leigh-Anne Stafford
Oakland County Health Officer
How appointments are offered
Appointment invitations are sent directly to those signed up on the Save Your Spot list by priority eligibility group and the time of sign-up. That means each time we issue appointments, a percentage is offered to each group we are currently vaccinating. Eligible priority groups are based on state and federal guidelines and currently include:
- Health care workers
- Emergency medical service workers
- Long-term care, assisted living/skilled nursing facility staff, and residents
- Individuals 65 years and older
- Frontline first responders
- School and childcare staff
- Corrections staff
- Frontline workers in critical infrastructure (food & agriculture, utilities, transportation, grocery store workers)
It is important to note that vaccination of one eligible priority group may not be complete before vaccination of another group begins. Vaccination of groups has overlapped and likely will continue to do so.
After vaccination
While we learn more from experts about the protection provided by COVID-19 vaccines, continue using all the tools available to help stop this pandemic:
- Covering your mouth and nose with a mask
- Washing hands often
- Stay at least 6 feet away from others.
Getting a COVID-19 vaccine together with following CDC’s recommendations for how to protect yourself and others will offer the best protection from getting and spreading COVID-19.

Save Your Spot Reminders
You only need to complete the Save Your Spot form once. Registering multiple times will not increase your chances at receiving an invitation, since this is not a lottery-based system. As vaccine supply increases, so will the number of appointments available.
After you register for the Save Your Spot list, you will receive a confirmation email of your registration. The message will come from saveyourspot@oakgov.com. If you don’t see a confirmation email in a reasonable amount of time, please check your “spam/junk” or “promotions” folder to look for messages that your email filter has incorrectly marked as spam.
When an appointment becomes available from our Save Your Spot list for you, you will be contacted by phone or email. Please continue to check all inboxes mentioned above to ensure an appointment invitation is not placed in other email folders.
