Enjoy a guided trail hike at Wint Nature Center

New this summer – register to join a 45-minute guided trail hike on Aug. 21-22 at Wint Nature Center in Independence Oaks County Park. With Covid-19 limiting certain types of programs and interactions, Oakland County Parks and Recreation is finding creative ways to provide safe nature experiences for residents.

After meeting at the white tent near Wint Nature Center, a naturalist will lead an informative hike during which participants will learn about seasonal plants and animals while getting some exercise and enjoying the great outdoors.

Up to three family groups will be admitted per time slot to accommodate social distancing. Time slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis as follows: Friday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m.; 11 a.m.; 2 p.m.; and 3 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 10 a.m.; 11 a.m.; 2 p.m.; and 3 p.m. The program is free, but you must pre-register by calling 248-858-0916 during regular business hours.

Masks are encouraged for trail programs and staff will wear masks. Screening questions and touchless temperature checks will be required upon arrival. Check in at the white tent near the nature center, and be sure to pack bug spray for your family. Program may be cancelled if weather is inclement.
