Memorial Day weekend at our parks
Hiking, biking, fishing, disc golfing, dog walking, kayaking and bird watching are all options at Oakland County Parks and Recreation this Memorial Day - despite limited park operations due to COVID-19.
Oakland County Parks is offering free park entry until June 1. The parks system offers nearly 80 miles of trails. Dogs must be on a six-foot leash at all times.
Individuals can launch their own kayak or non-powered watercraft at Addison Oaks County Park, Independence Oaks County Park and Independence Oaks-North and Orion Oaks County Park.
Parks with fishing lakes include: Addison Oaks, Highland Oaks, Independence Oaks, Orion Oaks and Rose Oaks county parks. Independence Oaks-North’s Upper Bushman Lake is designated catch-and-release-only by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Due to restrictions from the Governor’s latest executive order, some park amenities will be unavailable for use including picnic tables and pavilions; grills; playgrounds; beaches; boat rental; and volleyball courts.
