Start 2020 off on the right foot with a brisk hike

Keep your healthy resolutions and explore Independence Oaks County Park during a New Year's hike from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1. Learn more about Oakland County Parks and Recreation's largest park by hiking the 2.4 mile Lakeshore Loop with Oakland County Parks and Recreation staff.

No registration is required for this program. Meet at the boathouse. The hike is free, but an Annual Vehicle Permit or daily park pass is required for park entry.

Walking is wonderful exercise and a fantastic way to boost circulation, reduce stress and strengthen muscles. Walkers are urged to dress for the weather and bring a water bottle.

For more information, contact the South Parks Office at 248-424-7081. In case of inclement weather the day of the hike, a message will be left on this number letting interested participants know if the hike has been canceled or not.
