Survey open for Holly Oaks ORV Park plan

Oakland County Parks and Recreation (OCPR) and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have worked collaboratively for several years to acquire, develop and open an off-road vehicle (ORV) park in Oakland County. Holly Oaks ORV Park, located in Groveland and Holly townships, is scheduled to open in July 2020.

The Holly Oaks ORV Park Plan & Standards manual is now available for public review and comment.  Park Plan documents are available for viewing and comment online on the Planning Web page.  Please use the online survey on this page to provide feedback on the park plan or reach out to Melissa Prowse, Supervisor of Planning and Resource Development at 248-249-2801 or prowsem@oakgov.com

The plan can also be viewed in person at the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Administration Office, 2800 Watkins Lake Road, Waterford beginning today and Groveland Township Offices, 4695 Grange Hall Road, Holly beginning Nov. 12. Hard copy survey forms will also be available at these locations.

Holly Oaks ORV Park

Holly Oaks ORV Park will be a joint State-County project, operated by Oakland County Parks and Recreation in partnership with the DNR via a 20-year operating agreement (with a 10-year renewal). The park, consisting of former and active sand and gravel mines, is located on Dixie Highway across from Groveland Oaks County Park and Campground. Holly Oaks will be open to all types of ORVs, including full-size vehicles, side-by-sides, all-terrain vehicles or ATVs and motorcycles. Approximately 113 acres are expected to be open in summer 2020 with additional acres coming online as mining is completed on the remaining property. The full 235 acres is expected to be operational by 2023.
