Trail Blazer series continues at Waterford Oaks
Discover more about Oakland County Parks by hiking through different parks on
summer evenings as part of the Trail Blazer
Walking Series.
The free program will feature one-mile hikes led by Oakland County
Parks and Recreation staff who will discuss unique facts as participants walk
through a different park each week.
Tomorrow's walk, which begins at 7 p.m., will be at Waterford
Oaks County Park and it will focus on bluebirds and other animals at the park.
Future Trail Blazer programs will include:
- July 24 - Historical tidbits at
Catalpa Oaks County Park
- July 31 - Invasive species and
ecological features at Lyon Oaks County Park
- Aug. 7 - Crooked Lake at
Independence Oaks County Park
- Aug. 14 - The Sensory Trail at
Red Oaks Nature Center
A park entry fee or Annual Vehicle Permit is required at Lyon Oaks,
Independence Oaks and Red Oaks County Parks.
Walking is wonderful exercise and a fantastic way to boost
circulation, reduce stress and strengthen muscles. Walkers are encouraged to bring
bug spray and a refillable water bottle. Free pedometers will be available
while supplies last.
