Corn dogs, carnival rides, competitions, contests and prehistoric creatures - oh my!
Experience ultimate thrills during
the Oakland County
Fair July 6-15 at Springfield Oaks County Park in
Davisburg.
Grandstand events,
contests, food, Big Rock Amusements Carnival, fireworks, a free concert, livestock and youth competitions are fair favorites. Visitors can
stroll through barns to see horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and rabbits and view
newborn animals in the Miracle of Birth Barn.
This year, the fair will feature “Walking
with Giants,” a dinosaur and dragon encounter. Presented by Prehistoric
Adventures, the creatures are 8′ tall
and 16′ long with incredibly realistic eye
blinking, tail swooshing and a mighty roaring sound.
The fair will also feature
Ron Diamond's Comedy Hypnotism Show, “Magic of the Mind" and Barnyard Express, a
mobile educational farm center.
Grandstand Events include
an
off-road demolition derby, Figure Eight Races, Superkicker Rodeo, Night of Destruction, Knights of Valour jousting
and Monster Trucks. Tickets for these events may be purchased at OakFair.org.
Fair parking, which includes admission, is $12/vehicle and $6/motorcycle. Presenting sponsor Oakland County Parks and Recreation offers free parking Friday, July 6 and Thursday, July 12 with a 2018 Oakland County Parks and Recreation Annual Vehicle Permit.
Friday, July 6 is
Opening Day. Enjoy a free concert
followed by a fireworks
display.
Due to the fireworks,
animals will join in on the fair fun on Saturday, July 7. No animals will
be on the fairgrounds on Friday, July 6.
Springfield Oaks County Park
Springfield Oaks County Park is home to the historic Ellis Barn and annual Oakland County Fair, which draws 100,000+ visitors annually to the 10-day event. The 1884 Ellis Barn is 14,000-square-feet and features an indoor riding arena, 11 box stalls, mechanical exercise ring and cavernous second floor for hay and straw. It is used to host weddings and special events. The park also offers a multipurpose room for banquets, reunions and seminars as well as exhibit hall space. The grounds include two outdoor arenas.
