Start Time Adjusted for JCAR Committee Meeting on Proposed Changes to the MARSE

The start time for the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) committee meeting on December 11, 2014 has been changed to 8:30 a.m.

The purpose of the committee meeting is to gather more information on the proposed changes to the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE).  Following a period of public comment, the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Office of Special Education (OSE) submitted a report with the proposed draft rule set to JCAR on November 5, 2014.  The committee meeting is the next step in the rule making process.

The JCAR is a statutorily created bipartisan legislative committee, comprised of five house and five senate members, which is responsible for the legislative oversight of administrative rules proposed by state agencies.

Individuals wishing to provide written testimony must supply a minimum of 15 copies for distribution.  Individuals may also email comment to the committee at JCAR@legislature.mi.gov.
