What's New in the MiStrategy Bank?
Is Collective Teacher Efficacy something your district is interested in exploring for MICIP purposes? Collective teacher efficacy refers to the shared belief among educators in their collective ability to positively influence student outcomes, including those who are disengaged or disadvantaged. According to John Hattie’s Visible Learning research, collective teacher efficacy has one of the highest effect sizes on student achievement (effect size = 1.57), making it a powerful school improvement strategy. Collective teacher efficacy is not simply about collaboration—it is about educators believing that together, they can overcome challenges and make a measurable difference in student learning. If you find yourself intrigued by this concept, check out the new Collective Teacher Efficacy strategy, curated by MDE, now available in the MiStrategy Bank (MSB).
If you have questions about how to use the MSB, MDE strategies in the MSB or need a hand with creating your own strategy, please do not hesitate to contact Dave Carlson, who would be happy to assist you.

And....
Strengthening Connections: How ISDs, Locals, and the State are Teaming Up on MiStrategyBank!
We all know that the MiStrategyBank (MSB) is a foundational piece of our continuous improvement puzzle here in Michigan, especially when it comes to providing robust strategies for inclusion in MICIP, as well as in MiEWIMS, and MiREAD. But what truly makes MSB successful is the collaboration between all of us—from the state level right down to our local school districts.
That's why the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators (MAISA) has kicked off quarterly MSB Intermediate School District (ISD) Leads’ meetings. These gatherings are all about making MSB the best it can be: ensuring the content is top-notch, the user experience is smooth, and that it truly serves the evolving needs of Michigan's educators and students.
Our ISD Leads play a vital role in connecting the dots and keeping the whole system strong. They are the essential link that ensures successful practices from our local schools can be shared regionally and/or statewide and that local districts get the support they need to succeed.
Here’s a snapshot of what our incredible ISD Leads do. They:
-
Support Locals: They are the first line of support for successful strategy selection, implementation, and reviewing usage analytics in MSB. Need help curating strategies for MICIP, MiEWIMS, or MiREAD? Your ISD Lead is there for you!
-
Provide Content Rigor: They help maintain and enhance strategies, making sure every resource is complete, robust, and aligned with best practices. This keeps MSB a trustworthy and valuable tool.
-
Share What Works: They participate in defining how innovative, effective strategies created at the local level can be elevated to the ISD level, and ultimately shared globally across the state. This is how we all learn from each other's successes!
-
Bring Field Needs to the Table: By sharing insights from the educational landscape, ISD Leads help the MSB team identify and source new strategies that meet the real, current needs of districts across Michigan.
-
Promote and Align: They promote the strategies they’ve identified as ISD-supported, aligning them seamlessly with local professional learning and professional development initiatives.
This partnership is key to ensuring that MSB remains a dynamic and relevant resource for every MICIP, MiEWIMS, and MiREAD user.
We’re keeping the momentum going! The next MSB ISD Leads quarterly meeting will be scheduled in February 2026, with subsequent meetings planned for May and August.
If you ever need a hand with strategy selection, curation, implementation, or accessing MSB supports, please don't hesitate to reach out to your ISD MiStrategyBank Lead—they are your local expert! Additionally, you can always contact Amanda Stoel, MSB Product Owner at AStoel@gomaisa.org.

"Empowered me to scratch the unfinished stuff from previous admin and start fresh - onward and upward!"
"I appreciate all that was covered. It helped having multiple speakers who brought different perspectives."
"I really appreciate the resources you provided, especially the forming the team as many districts only have one person getting into the platform."
