EWIMS Trainings

Virtual Two-day Training on EWIMS

  • January 10, 2025, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • January 17, 2025, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

The Early Warning Intervention and Monitoring System (EWIMS) is an evidence-based, data-driven decision-making process that can be leveraged as part of a district’s secondary school Multi-tiered System of Supports framework.

EWIMS identifies and supports students not on track to reach expected educational milestones. A rigorous impact study conducted by the Regional Education Lab Midwest at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) provided evidence that within one year, schools that implemented the EWIMS process with fidelity showed a reduction in chronic absences and course failures. (Faria, et al. 2017).

MDE will offer interested district, school, and intermediate school district staff a free two-day virtual training on the EWIMS seven-step process.

Participants will increase their capacity to support the implementation of EWIMS with fidelity by:

  • Learning about the EWIMS seven-step process
  • Using a tool to assess where a school/district is in the implementation process, including collecting baseline data
  • Exploring options for implementation support. If interested, please register for both sessions.

Bring your laptops to jump into the MICIP training environment to practice building your own plan and learning about the updates in MICIP!
