MICIP Roadshow Feedback Quotes

“Gave me lots of insight on the how’s and why’s of using the MICIP website to navigate the continuing learning process!”

“I liked the afternoon where it was side by side with the slides and inside the platform.”

“MICIP is an ongoing process and not a 'submit' platform. I think getting this explained and walked through together really helped understand the purpose and process of MICIP better.”

“This was a valuable experience. I am grateful that the presenters were able to be here in person. I feel that the quality of the experience was entirely different than it might have been if the format were different.”

Career Technical Education

On November 7, 2024, The MICIP process/plan/mindset was presented to an audience of CTE instructional staff. The CTE staff is very eager to collaborate with District partners in a combined continuous improvement journey to improve specifically mathematics educational as well as overall increased achievement for all our students.

We encourage district administrators to include CTE administration as users in the MICIP platform as well as a vital voice at the continuous improvement meetings held at the local district.

Please contact blackwelld1@michigan.gov for support and assistance.

MiStrategy BankMiStrategy Bank (MSB)

MDE curated strategies in the MSB continue to by updated and improved. Many MDE strategies have a new look, but it will not affect your MICIP Portfolio.

Improvements include updated resource links, added research-based or evidence –based articles related to strategies, revised descriptions and tags for identifying a strategy have been included. All MDE strategies will be current by the end of this year.

Most recently updated strategies include:

  • Collective Responsibility
  • Restorative Practice/Justice
  • Essential Instructional Practices
  • Math Recovery Series
  • TRAILS
  • CHAMPS

If you have questions about how to use the MSB, MDE strategies in the MSB or need a hand with creating your own strategy, please do not hesitate to contact Dave Carlson who would be happy to assist you.

MDE Continuous Improvement Conference

The MDE Continuous Improvement Conference registration page now contains a list of conference breakout sessions.  While all sessions are related to the conference theme of Living into Continuous Improvement: Off the Shelf and Into the Classroom, there are a number of sessions specifically related to MICIP:

  • A Conversation About MICIP. Two opportunities to have a conversation with MDE MICIP staff regarding the conference theme. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss their thoughts or questions about the MICIP process and platform and how they can be used to take the continuous improvement plan off the shelf and implement it in the district, the school, and the classroom.
  • Implement, Monitor, Adjust: Making Your Continuous Improvement Plan Come Alive. Assessing needs and writing a high-quality plan is essential to continuous improvement. But unless the plan is implemented with integrity and monitored for capacity, fidelity, scale and reach, and impact, districts are not likely to realize the intended results. This session will benefit all schools and districts with making their plan come alive, with special attention given to those identified for CSI and ATS.

There will also be a MICIP update during the morning general session.

Feedback Requested on MDE-Provided Summative Assessment Reports

The Office of Educational Assessment and Accountability is looking for feedback from educators and administrators to help us improve our reports available through the Dynamic Score Reporting Site and MiLearn reporting platforms. We are focusing on how we can improve and better share these reports with educators, parents, and students.

If you would like to provide feedback on how our office can improve our reports and reporting platforms to support your use of the data, please contact Justin Tokarski, OEAA Usability Specialist, at TokarskiJ@michigan.gov to join our feedback group panel.

Feedback Opportunities What are we looking for?
Respond to Surveys How could our reports better serve you?
Participate in Focus Groups How could we improve access to our reports?
Provide Feedback in Interviews What is missing from our current reporting structure?

Reaching out will add you to our email list but doesn’t commit you to participation. If you feel that you have valuable information to share that could help us improve your experiences with the OEAA reports, please email Justin Tokarski to be added to our participant list.

You will be made aware of participation opportunities (both online and in-person) and can choose how often you are able to contribute.
