MiStrategy Bank (MSB)
The MiStrategy Bank (MSB) is undergoing some minor updates as far as MDE curated strategies are concerned.
Over the next few months many strategies will be revised and improved. This will bring the MSB up to date and make MDE strategy offerings more efficient and reflective of current needs.
What’s new in the MSB?
Is your district implementing the FOSS (Full Option Science System) Program or considering it for grades K-8? MDE has a strategy for that! If your MICIP plan includes a student engagement goal, be sure to check it out. Just search “FOSS” and you’ll find it.
If you have questions about items in the MSB or need a hand to create your own, please do not hesitate to contact me, Dave Carlson at carlsond12@michigan.gov. I would be happy to assist you, and I am looking forward to working with you.
Resource Equity Modal
As part of implementing the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP) equity-embedded mindset, the MICIP platform provides an opportunity for district teams to consider how available resources are allocated and utilized to equitably support desired outcomes for each child.
Applying the equity lens to resource planning and usage may be accomplished by including additional reflection questions throughout the continuous improvement process that narrow the focus to the accessibility and usage of resources supporting a given goal, strategy, and/or activity.
The additional equity-focused questions assist a team exploring a topic in developing clarity on the equitable alignment of available resources (e.g., people, time, materials, funds, and course offerings) and ensuring strategies are adequately resourced. Resource equity-focused questions also assist teams in identifying how resource availability and use impact implementation and outcomes for groups (e.g., students, employees, and parents) served by the district.
A new modal is available as an option for a district’s current data story and will be required for all new data stories developed in the platform. Guidance questions and materials are available via the modal and the MICIP website. MICIP: Applying the Equity Lens to Understanding (michigan.gov)
